The previous sample reminded of the subtle colour changes and irregular shapes present in the peat moss at my house. I’ve wanted to focus a project on it since I used reeds in a previous body of work but I never really had the time.
For those who don’t know, Ireland is well known for it’s bog lands, they cover about 1/6th of the entire island. The Irish peat bog has long been a part of rural life and in my opinion, nothing smells better on a fire than a smouldering piece of peat turf.
I have had a bit of a re-think as to how I’m going to approach my blog. I’ve had an account for ages, but I don’t really use it (mostly due to the fact that I think I never have anything interesting to say!). Now I’m going to use it more as a creative diary and post images of my own work and various things that I come across that inspire me. Hopefully I will stick at it long enough for it to become interesting….
